|Expanded View: The New Wing of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center is a single-building monograph of the new wing to the Anchorage museum designed by the celebrated architect David Chipperfield. The publication features Chipperfield's design, discussing the concept and the process of design and execution of the building as well as the history of the Anchorage Museum, the process for selection of David Chipperfield as the design architect, and the additional changes made to the museum. It includes concept drawings, floor plans, sections, construction images, and images of the finished interior and exterior before occupation.|
Julie Decker is a director of the International Gallery of Contemporary Art, and a frequent guest art curator at the Anchorage Museum, currently working on exhibitions and publications on contemporary art for children, contemporary art of the Circumpolar North, and northern architecture. She is also an instructor of art history for the University of Alaska. She holds a doctorate in contemporary art history, a master's degree in arts administration, and bachelor degrees in fine art and journalism. Decker has authored numerous articles and publications on the art and architecture of Alaska, including John Hoover: Art & Life, Icebreakers: Alaska's Most Innovative Artists, Found & Assembled in Alaska, and Quonset: Metal Living for a Modern Age. She serves on the board of the Alaska Design Forum, the Anchorage Museum Building Committee and the Alaska Native Arts Foundation. She has lived in Alaska since 1971. In 2009 Decker served as the project director for FREEZE, a project exploring life in Alaska and the North, and this project continues her interest in contemporary art and architecture of northern regions. She lives in Anchorage with her husband, her children, Annika and Jack, and her two dogs.
