Graphic Designer

Princeton Architectural Press (East Village, NYC) seeks a full-time Junior Designer to work on a broad range of illustrated books and projects within the fields of architecture, design, visual culture, photography, landscape, and theory.

Before a book or product goes to press, every aspect of its design becomes a crucial branding decision. Our designers are responsible for crafting the look and feel of the entire package. In addition, they have the chance to assist in creating original and exciting products for our new line of stationery and gift merchandise (Paper + Goods).

  • Design and concept multiple book, packaging, stationery, and digital projects (8-10 per year)
  • Maintain brand and design continuity across PAPress series titles and products
  • Execute a range of sales and marketing materials
  • Provide layout, typographic composition, and text setting support
  • Meet and adapt to changing schedules
  • Intelligence and stamina
  • Creativity and strong conceptual thinking
  • Flexible and able to follow direction well but also provide innovative directions
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (esp. InDesign & Photoshop)
  • A love of books and the form of the book
  • Versatile in a range of graphic approaches and styles
  • Superior attention to detail and typesetting
  • Knowledge of pre-press processes and print production
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with focus in graphic design and or art
  • Solid understanding of HTML & CSS a plus

Freelance Editorial Pool

Princeton Architectural Press is always on the lookout for freelance copyeditors and proofreaders with experience in architecture, architecture history, landscape architecture, and urbanism. We are also looking for freelance copyeditors and proofreaders with experience in graphic design.

Preference will be given to those who have taken continuing education classes in copyediting or proofreading or who have a degree in English, and those who have a working knowledge of our titles. It is also helpful if you are located close to New York City (within one day's range for Ground UPS).
